Pre-Trip Fears

As I am packing and preparing to leave for Chile in just over a week, the nerves are starting to kick in. At first, I was worried about the fact that I haven’t taken a Spanish class in a semester and about this being the first time I will travel internationally alone. However, current events in Jackson have me more worried about being able to get out of town at all. We had 17 or so steel power lines break the other day which shut power off to a section of the valley. At the same time we had a storm that has closed every road out of the valley. Flights were cancelled and the road was closed before you even reached the airport so people weren’t able to get out. Avalanches have kept many of the roads from opening. Thankfully, the weather seems to be clearing up next week. Until then, all I can do is pack and hope that flights won’t be affected next Sunday when I fly out.
