Yesterday, I got the opportunity to meet more people at the corporate office. I talked to the different departments in our office concerning their job assignments. Later that day, my supervisor assigned me to work on questionnaires that were collected from different locations and were going to be used in their quater news letter. I started yesterday and continued today. I worked on my assignment as soon as I got the office this morning. During the afternoon, we celebrated Rex, a national service person working for my supervisor, birthday. My supervisor brought a cake, drinks and pizza to help celebrate Rex’s birthday. It was a great celebration during lunch. It has only been three days since I started my internship but I feel as though these people that I just met are my new family.
I arrived in Ghana on Wednesday night. On Thursday, I went to the American Embassy near Cantonment to register as a United States citizen. The embassy welcomed me to Ghana and informed me that I could register online. On Friday, I went to Volta River Authority, the corporation I will be interning for and informed them that I had arrived in Ghana. The Corporate manager told me that I would be starting on Monday(today) at 9.a.m. I was extremely anxious to start my internship because I had no idea what to expect but to my ultimate surprise, I was met with open arms and the typical Ghanaian hospitality. I met other interns who were extremely nice. During lunch, the corporate manager treated all the interns to lunch at a very fancy restaurant. After work, my other supervisor offered to give me a ride home. Overall, I had an amazing first day of work.
