10 Ways to Make the Most of Winter Break

If you find yourself bored with a parent quizzing you about future or summer plans this winter break, here is a list of ten recommended activities that will help you show them you’re thinking about next steps.

1)       Update your resume with any new experiences, skills or accomplishments

2)     Engage in your community through service opportunities

3)     Explore options for graduate school and learn more from SEC resources

4)     Use Handshake, the Whitman Internship Database, or public search sites like internships.com or indeed.com to look for an internship or job

5)     Check out Whitman Wayfinder to explore information about 34 different career fields

6)     Work on your LinkedIn profile; research alumni working in career fields or geographic areas that interest you through Whitman Connect or LinkedIn alumni directories

7)     Schedule an informational interview with someone doing work you’re interested in

8)     Attend Whitties Helping Whitties in Seattle, Portland or San Francisco

(One Whitman Internship Grant will be reserved for a student who initiates an internship at each WHW event)

9)     Reach out to a Whitman alum or someone you know to schedule a job shadow now or during Spring Break

10)   Have a fun, relaxing and restful winter break and we’ll see you in January!
