Nice

Last weekend was my trip to Nice!

It was so nice to get out of the gloomy cold weather in Amsterdam. The temperature was upper 60s…perfect for a nap on the beach. I do not believe I’ve seen water so blue in my life. Although I thought the water was freezing, people were swimming at all hours! You can walk for miles on the water which is lovely during sunset. Every building was a beautiful pastel color. There were gorgeous cathedral’s all around the city and although public transportation was super easy, everything was walkable! There were amazing baked goods on each corner and shopping was an intense scene! There were several malls for luxury brands and the downtown area was busy with tourists. The beach was just as busy but there was a sense of calmness with people napping on the beach, having picnics, and just enjoying the water. My friends and I took a day trip to Monte Carlo, Monaco via train. The views were gorgeous the whole way and Monaco was an amazing country built on the side of mountains. Monaco, being one of the richest countries, had the biggest yachts and most expensive cars I have ever seen. We sat by the dock put our feet in the blue water and just relaxed, taking in the view. My one tip for traveling in France is to make sure your tickets are correct for your travels. Do not risk not buying tickets because you will be asked to show your ticket. I made this mistake twice and got fined over 100 Euros. Police are no joke and being respectful will help your case if you do find yourself in a situation. Food was similarly priced to Amsterdam and communicating was not hard even though locals did not speak English and I do not speak French. If you are traveling with a group then Airbnb or hostels are the cheapest way to go and are usually located in an area that allows you to get around easily.

All in all, Nice left a special place in my heart with its blend of scenic beauty, cultural richness, and the warmth of its people. It was a trip filled with sun-soaked days, vibrant city life, and moments of pure relaxation, making it a destination worth revisiting. It has been easily my favorite place I have traveled to, with the weather causing me to be biased.

This weekend I will be taking my last trip by visiting Geneva and Chamonix, but finals are right around the corner! Studying will soon be my top priority and wrapping up all I need to do to successfully leave Amsterdam and head back to the States! I can not believe I have only 2 weeks left! I can remember the day I moved in and met everyone like it was last week!
