Title of Fellow: Community Health Partnership Fellow
Proposed Hours of Work per Week/Days of Week: 6-8 hours per week for a total of 160 project based hours plus 20 hours in meetings at Whitman for the academic year.

Mission of organization: Advancing the success of students by addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
Project Description: The Health Center is interested in partnering with a local health care organization to increase sustainability of services. The Community Fellow would be working to research, assess, analyze, and recommend partnerships with local health care organizations for potential partnership with The Health Center. The end product would be a report that considers several factors including financial feasibility, readiness, sustainability, and mutual benefit.
Skills Required:
- Understanding of Microsoft Word and to create reports and documentation
- Previous experience volunteering
- Interest in working within the healthcare field
- Interest in working with community healthcare providers to develop partnership opportunities
- Demonstrates active listening skills.
Skills Gained:
- Establishes relationships to improve health in a community
- Gathers information for evaluating policies, programs, and services.
- Contributes to school health improvement planning.

Responsibilities:
- Fellow will be onsite for weekly meeting with the supervisor
- Fellow will be onsite at the clinics weekly, as needed, to gain knowledge of operations
- Fellow should have the self-discipline to work remotely for data analysis and report writing
- Fellow will identify policies, programs, and resources that improve health in a community
- Fellow will learn how student health care aids not just the student, but the family and community as well
Expectations:
- Students must be eligible to work in the U.S. (e.g. U.S. citizen or green card holder), must be available for the entire 2018-19 academic year, must be available on 9/21 from 4-5 p.m. and must be able to attend 20 meetings (20 hours/bi-weekly meetings) focused on professional development hosted by Whitman College (facilitated by Victoria Wolff, Assistant Director for Internship Programs, SEC).
- Fellow will understand The Health Center business, services provided, and client needs.
- Fellow will develop and implement a needs assessment and propose ideas to fill gaps
- Fellow will research and explore potential health service organizations—both public and private—to assess and evaluate interest and readiness to partner in providing student health services
- Fellow will analyze results of all health organizations considered and provide a recommendation that would best support both organizations/businesses and financial sustainability
