2018-19 Community Fellow Program – Apply Now!

A rewarding (and paid!) opportunity to “think global, act local”

The Whitman Community Fellow Initiative funds a cohort of juniors and seniors to spend an academic year working part-time (160 hours for the two semesters) at a prominent Walla Walla Valley organization to address some of the area’s social, economic and cultural challenges.

Community Fellows meet successful, high-level leaders in Walla Walla and receive professional mentoring, targeted career development guidance, and broad exposure to local organizations in addition to the one where they work. Community Fellows also learn about important issues in southeastern Washington.

If selected, Community Fellows will attend a mandatory orientation on September 21 from 4-5 p.m., attend a total of 20 (weekly) meetings and professional development workshops and work about 160 hours over the course of the two semesters.

Information Session: Fellows Fair, September 4th

Interested students can meet representatives from this years partner organizations at the Community Fellows Fair on September 4th from 4-5 p.m. in the Reid Coffeehouse. Representatives from all organizations will be present to further describe the Fellow positions and answer any questions. However keep in mind this fair is intended to complement the application process – interested students should begin their applications as soon as possible and utilize the fair as an opportunity to further interact with community partners or ask questions about this years positions.
