Title of Fellow: Assistant Study Coordinator
Proposed Hours of Work per Week/Days of Week: 5-6 hours per week/flexible; required hours: Tuesdays, 4:30-6:00 (with some flexibility). Fellow will work a total of 160 hours for the organization plus 20 hours in weekly meetings at Whitman College for academic year.

Mission of organization: Community Council’s mission is to foster a trusted gathering place where people engage in dialogue, inquiry, and advocacy to build a vibrant region for everyone. Our vision is a community where all people come together to create the future they want.
Project Description: Get engaged in grass-roots community building by playing an integral role in Community Council’s study/advocacy process. Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the development of a community study. During this 26-week process, you will: help determine the study content (topic is yet to be determined) and identify resource speakers; reach out to and support speakers regarding their study presentations; attend study meetings and draft comprehensive meeting summaries; help draft and edit the study report, which will be published in June 2019. You will also have an opportunity to become engaged in on-going advocacy work to support the Enhancing Outdoor Recreation Opportunities and Education as a Path to Economic Growth implementation work. This is an unparalleled opportunity to work with leaders throughout the region, learn grass-roots community building from the ground up, and participate in the development of a study that will generate positive, long-term community impacts.

Responsibilities:
- Attend most weekly study meetings on Tuesdays, from 4:30-6:00.
- Conduct research in support of the study process. Includes helping to interview potential resource speakers and finding and reading supplemental reports.
- Write meeting summaries as experience with study process is gained.
- Interact with and support resource speakers regarding their study presentations.
- Support advocacy work as needed/available.
Expectations:
- Students must be eligible to work in the U.S. (e.g. U.S. citizen or green card holder), must be available for the entire 2018-19 academic year, must be available on 9/21 from 4-5 p.m. and must be able to attend 20 meetings (20 hours/bi-weekly meetings) focused on professional development hosted by Whitman College (facilitated by Victoria Wolff, Assistant Director for Internship Programs, SEC).

- Strong writing skills to draft and edit summaries and reports.
- Strong communication skills to clarify tasks, responsibilities and roles within a team environment
